Appearances Matter

If your mother ever taught you anything, it's that Appearances Matter. Appearances have a great deal to do with whom we are.  My life is about appearance, whether I like it or not.  So is yours.

I had a Jewish Mother, who did her best to raise me like a princess--"beautifully."  That may have had something to do with it.

I also had a Jewish father, who was in the garment (schmata/rag) business, and very much the engineer/Handy Dan on the side; he could make just about anything  He also had the ability, the keen eye, and the self-discipline and pride, to do it well.

I'm still in the garment business, as I always have been.  I manufacture, distribute, and sell:  Appearances. Now, I own the joint:  77 years is the age of the corporation; I'm almost that old, myself.

Each day, Mother's voice nudges me into something decent to wear; inside my well kempt house with my manicured lawn. You can bet that each day, Dad drops by to remind me how to make it, fix it, or sell it.

When it comes to appearances and my parents, rest assured that death is only a state of mind.  They're here;  Appearances matter.

Whether it's clothing, fragrances, the arts, food, architecture or interior design, or just about anything at all that comprises the material world; if something can be experienced, one or more of our five senses is impacted by it:  Smells, tastes, feels, looks, sounds:  Appearances matter.
